Welcome to the CRKSG

Welcome to the Canberra Region Kidney Support Group (CRKSG) Inc web site. CRKSG is a patient self-help group made up of people with kidney failure and their families, carers and friends. This website aims to give members and non members of CRKSG a guide to our organisation and how we can help you.

The original CRKSG logo was designed by Sue Keunen. The logo represents the person as a whole, meaning that the whole person with kidney failure is to be supported. The CRKSG acknowledges the contribution made by Sue. The original logo has been in use for some years and a decision was taken to update the logo a little. The original design by Sue was retained but modernised a little.

We hope that you find our web site interesting and informative.

DonateLife Donor Awareness Week

Don't forget DonateLife Donor Awareness week for 2012. Events for the week will be held during the week, Sunday 19 - Sunday 26 February inclusive. Details of events for the week will published on our Events page as they come to hand.

Organ Donation

For those considering organ donation, and who perhaps have some doubts, a fact sheet (in PDF format) to help you make up your mind can be found at: Organ Donation Facts (45KB). Donor Registration forms are obtainable from all Medicare offices and from the waiting rooms of many medical service providers. Some contact details for the Organ Donor Register may be found on the Links page of this site.

Quarterly Meeting

Come along and have a chat, a tea or coffee and biscuit. You won't be roped into doing anything that you don't want to do!

Where's Your Kidneys Mum?

Where’s Your Kidneys Mum? is a children’s book written by Wendy Faulder. Wendy is a member of the Administration staff at the Department of Renal Medicine in The Canberra Hospital.

This simple story based educational booklet will assist parents/grandparents with discussing the oncoming treatments with their families. It covers most questions that children regularly ask about dialysis.

If you are interested in purchasing a copy, a small fee of $5.00 per book + postage will be charged, which will be used as a donation to the Canberra Renal Outpatients’ Services in the ACT. Wendy may be contacted on 02 6244 2046 or email wendy.faulder@act.gov.au
